New hands needed
For those of you that have read this thread on the forum, you will know that I am beginning to move away from my involvement in Puppy.
So I would like to know if there is anyone that would be able to take over some of the responibilities here at the website. Ultimately I would like someone to actually take over the admin role, but to begin with it would just be good if someone could answer and respond to the emails the website receives.
Thanks,
tom :)
Website Instructions Added
Just to say that I've added instructions on how to use this site now. Please give any feedback you have.
Thanks :)
Live and Kicking
I see I haven't blogged since the site went live; well, finally after many, many months of planning, discussion, collaboration, set-backs and coding puppylinux.org is live and open for business :) Hooray! There's still an awful lot of work to do, so this doesn't mean I can totally sit back and relax by we've gotten over the main hurdles, people are contributing and most things work.
A few more bits and bobs
So the wiki has been migrated and HairyWill has been adding some more wiki-type modules. There's still a lot of reorganisation that could be done to the wiki pages -- even a lot that could be deleted.
Nyu has added the Japanese version of the Manual.
I've been improving the text-editor, better image insertion, secured HTML filter and fewer buttons, still haven't added a 'code' button as suggested by klu9.
I'm currently looking at integrating prit1's method for browsing the software repository, but it's proving a little difficult.
Notice!
I've just updated all the URL addresses on the site, because some of the foreign language pages of the manual where generating bad addresses because of accented characters. Because of the this update, a small muber of addressess may have changed, so don't panic if some old links don't work, the page will be somewhere here :)
How the front page works
Just wanted to make a few notes about how the front page works -- whilst I remember.
RSS Feeds for the Forum
Well, it took a fair bit of programming but I've managed to create RSS feeds for every forum of the main Murga forum -- even for the "View Posts Since Last Visit" link! The Latest Posts one doesn't actually query the forum every time you click on it, it is updated every hour by cron, so really it's latest-posts-as-of-45mins-past-the-hour, still pretty cool though. Oh yeah, these ones filter off all sticky threads too :)
RSS everywhere
I haven't been that busy on the site recently. There's been some discussion about the Wiki and it's migration, I've tidied up the feeds on the front page, changed the site font to Verdana and added borders to images. Prit's Repo is now installed here and so I need to get on with integrating it with Drupal itself. I'm having a closer look at integrating RSS feeds at the moment and with all the possible feeds this site can generate there are an incredible number -- I don't know where to put them all!
