A new base for Puppy?

Would Puppy Linux using a new base be a possible new direction for the development? Slitaz, Damn Small Linux and DeLi Linux would all be potential candidates.

Using T2 or slackware has nothing to do with leaving out multiuser support that is due to barry's init scripts i believe and maybe a few missing settings ... i mean obviously slackware supports multiuser and SLAX *is* slackware

No, we can't get there but we can get infinitely close! meanwhile try

Why use a new base when the TWO we have now work just fine?

do you forget that we have slackware based puppy and T2 (the *real* puppy IMO...) also there is a gentoo based puppy etc.. a better idea would be to standardise around T2 or slackware amigo has written a program that auto compiles and packages slackware programs (i believe pretty successfully but i haven't checked)

So if T2 is used (which would just build the binary packages in .tar.bz2 form) that would just work.... and we could update whatever we want but ala slackware we have to stick with thier versions although i don't think slackware is gonna stop being made anytime soon it just isn't that popular due to its command line only nature

and niether is T2 but at least it is a pretty organised ports system and we certainly can reap the benefits of that
