Though I want to get out of using microsoft products for the past 2 years, I could avail no help except "IT IS COMMAND LINE PROGRAMMING, SO DO NOT MOVE" or a big distribution  like "REDHAT' which I feel may not suit  self learners like me. I chose to install friendly linux distro "Ubuntu" and enjoying it. However I maintained  my windows-XP option for browsing and e-mail through 'dial-up'. Many trials on hooking up to linmodem site also  turned out to be pure waste of time (This is true in my case only - Great group trying to help the linux community sorting out all soft modem reated issues). I did a hard drive installation of Puppylinux 10 days back. Alas my modem was not detected.  I tried to install in many of my friends PCs to check whether any modem detection is reported. YES - At last a modem was detected brand DAX which my brother was using. I stripped out that modem and added to my PC just now.

YES I AM ENJOYING THE FREEDOM!
