Macpup Dingo
A simple remaster of Puppy Dingo to make it look attractive.
Only the appearance of Puppy Dingo has been changed. Features and functionality should be the same.
Thanks a lot to Barry and everyone involved in creating Puppy Dingo.

You may want to register on the Puppy forum and post this as a thread. I am sure you will get good help. This is a very friendly forum.
Love MacPup!!!
I love this pup! I'm running it full install on a Compaq Armada E500 laptop... PIII 550, 384MB RAM, 12 GB HD. This thing was useless under XP SP2. Now, it's a fun little machine. I've been able to tweak the wbar, but I'm having problems tweaking the icewm menus when I add applications. Where do I look for them? I edited the /root/.icewm/menu, but even after restarting X, the new menu items don't show up.
menu update
"I edited the /root/.icewm/menu, but even after restarting X, the new menu items don't show up."
go to a terminal and type:
fixmenus
this should fix it - you may have to do... sync then fixmenus and then ldconfig (for sfs)

Abiword spelling???
I tried to get the spelling working with the original version of Abiword, and the available upgrade, but no joy. I was able to get it going by using these upgrades from ttuuxxx:
Libs needed for Abiword
http://www.puppylinux.ca/ttuuxxx/programs/office/2.17-abi-Libs.pet
Original 2.6.2 Abiword Package
http://www.puppylinux.ca/ttuuxxx/programs/office/abiword-2.6.2.pet
It would be nice if you could include them with the packages available for Macpup.

Email Icon?
I have been playing with MacPup, and really like it. Is there any chance that you will add an Email Icon to the lineup at the bottom of the screen?
Also, speaking of the Icons, when I boot from a hard disk installation, sometimes there is a black area just around the Icon area. If I do a ctrl backspace, and then restart x, then the wallpaper is again full screen. Any thoughts?
Again, thanks for a great distro...
cheers, Paul
Re: Email Icon?
Am glad you like Macpup.
It is very easy to add or remove programs from the dock bar (wbar). You just have to edit the file /root/.wbar in a text editor and there are 3 lines to every program entry.
i:/usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps/www48.png
c:/usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser
t:browse
1st line - location of the icon for the program
2nd line- the program to run with its path
3rd line - the name for the program
I think the program with path is /usr/bin/sylpheed for the mail application.
Email Icon
Thanks very much for the reply. As it turns out, the new menu entry looks like:
i:/usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps/email48.png
c:/usr/local/bin/defaultemail
t:email
I replaced the "chat" entry, which I have no need of, and think this combination is a real winner.
Thanks again.
cheers, Paul
T23 with Macpup
Thanks a lot. Macpup Dingo gives spirit to my almost dead T23 Laptop because of a harddisk failure.
I like the GUI. It is just like owning a mac computer. My friends like it too. They were fascinated that I only use a live cd to run my computer.
Woof! Woof! Puppy Linux is on the roof!
Thanks
@reckrhodes: I am glad you like Macpup Dingo.
Macpup looks good
I tried this out yesterday and thought that it looked slick. I booted it from a manual frugal install so didn't get to see any changes to the boot. Did you consider releasing your changes as a pet or squashfile in the same way as EZpup? I haven't bothered using wbar since just after dougal packaged it, I think you have used it very well.
Addon of Macpup
Will,
Am glad you liked it. Yeah even I do frugal on most of the puplets I want to try. Saves me from writing CD's.
Creating a pet/sfs is definitely in my thoughts. As I am still a newbie in many areas, I would need help with this too. Like how you setup a wallpaper in the sfs etc ..
Apple Core
Looking for something simple and elegant? Bang up to date? This is the puplet for you. Very pleasant to use. Just makes Dingo simpler. I have a Mac g4. This puplet is faster, simpler to use and has all the Puppy features that we Love. Woof Woof.

Thanks for the feedback
Lobster (Jason),
Thanks for the positive feedback. I am glad you are liking Macpup Dingo. Hope the addons you tried worked on this.
MacPup Dingo Suggestion
Mac Pup Dingo is great but I do have a suggestion or two.
Many Puplets are ideal for use on low spec aging laptops. But such kit often only has has a 800x600 screen and MacPup Dingo will not fit as the wbar is too wide. It is possible to edit the wbar config and delete out the Setup and Install icons which solves the problem but most noobs may not know how to do that. In reality Setup and Install are not used on a daily basis so won't be missed from a rapid access bar anyway. They can still easily be accessed from the main menu.
Personally I would also remove the Help Icon to make space for an Email icon which is noticeably absent.
Cheers,
VFM
Re: Macpup Suggestion
VFM,
Thanks for the suggestion. Do you think reducing the icon sizes and/or spacing can help? These program icons are there as the first version used the same set and all the users who downloaded were satisfied with those icons. Can you try changing the wbar line in /root/.xinitrc to wbar ... -isize 8 ... -idist 32 ... ? After doing this restart X and see if it fits on the 800x600 screen.
