Puppy community members Tempestuous and Trapster have prepared two new programs, Claws-Mail and Gnomad2, that add capability to Puppy by providing ways to manage mail and music.
Tempestuous has packaged Claws-Mail; in his words, "Claws-Mail is a fork of the email client Sylpheed. It has a few more features than Sylpheed, but remains a relatively small application." Puppy community member markofkane who has tried Claws-Mail says, "I like it better because it shows images and HTML." The program also does IMAP4 and has aspell for spell-checking. The basic package is a one package pet, but there are add-on pets available for other languages than English and bogofilter for spam filtering. Information and a download link is available here.
Trapster has prepared the Gnomad2 package for managing music on Creative Nomad and Zen players, and a number of others. Speaking as one who has one of the original Nomads, this program fills a need. Creative has also, of course, sold many of their more modern players--but that original Nomad is as solid as a rock, a big old 5 GB drive the size of a large portable CD-player. OK, enough of that! You are advised to read the entire thread to make sure that you understand what you are getting into. As is very often the case with additional Pupget packages, the developer cannot test on the widest variety of hardware and relies on Puppy community members to help out. It looks like this was one of the many times that sort of cooperation worked and resulted in a new program that expands Puppy's capabilities. Gnomad2 is available here
image padding wierdness!
Ooo, could I get a Zen then for testing!
Yeah, about the padding, allowing users to use CSS styles is a security risk apparently, IE will execute javascript in CSS I think, or something like that anyway.
So I just plonked a "paddin: 15px;" on all images, which had some rather strange results, RSS icons, the little puppy image at the begining of the breadcrumb trail and buttons in tinymce all exploded and took up far too much space! So I had to go and turn padding off indivdiaully for them.
So let me know if anyone sees any more image wierdness!
Nomad donation needed........ for testingDoes anybody fancy
Cool
Does anybody fancy giving me a Nomad so that I can test out Gnomad2? ;)
I tried using the tinymce edit css style option to give some space around the images. This has an effect inside the editor but not on the final page. :(
