"Have been away from the forum a while due to workload. I go look at the Puppy situation and Wow. 2.15CE is a rocking suite. An awesome job by the team.
A usual observation I always hear from someone who saw 2.12 or 2.13 was that the GUI looked toyesque. But the new graphics puts Puppy on par with other distros. Everybody I showed it to today wanted a copy."

Lobster review of 2.15CE Alpha Standard Viz

• It works and rather well for an Alpha and it looks good, initial eye candy is there. Well done Warren (WhoDo)
• Linsta theme is 'orrible (IMO) also weather add on is of specialised interest - removed both. I could get used to Firefox and a lot of people prefer it. The first thing I missed was Composer (built into Seamonkey)
• After a couple of days of use I miss all the default icons on desktop - setup in particular - some make sense only if you read their captions - so not intuitive. The default icon set in Puppy 2.14 were colourful and clear and well laid out. The default in 2.15 Alpha are with bits of blue in them and offer no improvement that I can discern (they are pretty enough but not clear). Computer and documents are particularly confusing.To me this is the MS syndrome. Just when everything is working, they change and say it is "new / improved"
• How big is that Supertux game? 15MB? Not for Puppy! - did I imagine it - or did we once have it in a Puppy (maybe a beta? - was it in the Games Puppy?)
• With all respect to Barry, I think a 2.15 manual pdf from Oli would be better than the existing (comprehensive and specialised) default help pages
  Indeed I spent the first 3 months of using Puppy without looking at the help - could it be provided as add on yet?
• What has moved us from 84MB to 140MB? CUPS, backgrounds and SuperTux? Don't know.
  A review can sound critical and I do not mean it that way, as I feel this has much potential, if kept small and simple (the Puppy Ideal) and I will keep using it, which really is the ultimate test of worth. Get the Viz.
