Verify installed version via the command-line interface:

unrar --version

Unpacking (extracting) RAR files via the command-line interface:

unrar e -ad [file...]

The command-line interface is accessed by right-clicking in the ROX-Filer window and selecting Window/Terminal Here.

7-Zip and PeaZip can also unpack RAR files.
